Understanding why gaps persist even among students with high academic talent is the focus of the research led by Andrés Barrios, an academic at the School of Economics and Business Administration and director of the Human Development Lab, which was recently awarded a Fondecyt Regular 2026 grant.

Universidad de los Andes registered 21 selected projects out of a total of 65 applications, reaching an award rate of 32.3%, a result consistent with the historical performance of the national Fondecyt system.
