El profesor Felipe Aldunate<\/a><\/strong>, director del \u00c1rea de Econom\u00eda y Finanzas y subdirector del Centro de Gobierno Corporativo y Sociedad del ESE Business School<\/a><\/strong>, ha publicado su m\u00e1s reciente investigaci\u00f3n en el prestigioso Journal of Financial Economics<\/a><\/strong>, una de las cinco revistas de mayor impacto a nivel mundial en el \u00e1rea de Business\/Finance, seg\u00fan Clarivate (JCR), y parte de la exclusiva lista FT50.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

El estudio, titulado \u201cPension fund flows, exchange rates, and covered interest rate parity\u201d<\/a>,<\/strong> aborda de manera rigurosa los efectos que provocan en el mercado financiero chileno las recomendaciones de cambio de fondos de las AFP realizadas por firmas de asesor\u00eda.<\/strong> Estas recomendaciones movilizan grandes vol\u00famenes de capital, generando compraventas significativas de divisas extranjeras debido a la alta exposici\u00f3n internacional de los fondos de renta variable. El an\u00e1lisis revela c\u00f3mo estos flujos afectan directamente el tipo de cambio del peso chileno y la paridad cubierta de tasas de inter\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uno de los hallazgos m\u00e1s relevantes del art\u00edculo es el rol que juegan los bancos locales como proveedores de liquidez en el mercado cambiario spot. Para cubrir las demandas de compra o venta de divisas por parte de los fondos de pensiones, estas instituciones recurren a operaciones en el mercado internacional, generando efectos que se extienden tambi\u00e9n al mercado de derivados. Adem\u00e1s, la investigaci\u00f3n explica por qu\u00e9, debido a restricciones regulatorias y costos de arbitraje, las desviaciones en la paridad cubierta pueden persistir en el tiempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
