Constanza Mart\u00ednez, y que cuenta con la colaboraci\u00f3n de investigadores de la Universidad de la Frontera, est\u00e1 desarrollando una investigaci\u00f3n que busca aportar nuevos conocimientos sobre la enfermedad periodontal, una de las principales causas de p\u00e9rdida dental en adultos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<strong>Es un estudio muy novedoso, porque evaluaremos los efectos de part\u00edculas derivadas de pat\u00f3genos periodontales llamadas ves\u00edculas extracelulares sobre la permeabilidad del epitelio y su respuesta anti inflamatoria, usando un modelo de cultivo tridimensional<\/strong>\u201d, explica la Dra. Constanza Mart\u00ednez, acad\u00e9mica de la Facultad de Odontolog\u00eda UANDES.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El objetivo principal es comprender mejor los mecanismos iniciales de la patog\u00e9nesis de esta enfermedad, un paso clave para mejorar la prevenci\u00f3n, el diagn\u00f3stico y los tratamientos actuales. \u201c<strong>Aportar\u00e1 conocimientos nuevos relacionados con los mecanismos de la enfermedad en su fase inicial, lo que permitir\u00e1 conocer mejor su progresi\u00f3n<\/strong>\u201d, a\u00f1ade la Dra. Mart\u00ednez.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El proyecto es liderado por la Dra. Constanza Mart\u00ednez y como co-investigadoras participan la Dra. Alejandra Chaparro y la Dra. Mar\u00eda Jos\u00e9 Bendek, ambas de Odontolog\u00eda UANDES.
