{"id":6620,"date":"2025-11-04T17:35:23","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T20:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/investiga.uandes.cl\/?p=6620"},"modified":"2025-12-02T16:38:47","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T19:38:47","slug":"this-is-what-the-new-doctorate-in-political-and-social-studies-will-look-like","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/investiga.uandes.cl\/en\/this-is-what-the-new-doctorate-in-political-and-social-studies-will-look-like\/","title":{"rendered":"Details on the New PhD in Political and Social Studies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last Thursday, September 11, the Superior Council of the Universidad de los Andes approved the creation of the Doctorate in Political and Social Studies, an initiative of the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/universidad\/facultades\/ciencias-sociales\/\">School of Social Sciences&nbsp;<\/a><\/strong>in conjunction with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/centros\/centro-signos-uandes\/\">Signos Center<\/a>&nbsp;and with the participation of professors from the<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/universidad\/facultades\/filosofia-y-humanidades\/\">&nbsp;School of Philosophy and Humanities<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/universidad\/facultades\/facultad-ingenieria\/\">School of Engineering and Applied Sciences<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program&nbsp;<strong>seeks to train researchers capable of analyzing contemporary socio-political phenomena with theoretical rigor, methodological pluralism, and an interdisciplinary approach that integrates social sciences, humanities, and philosophy.<\/strong>It is aimed at professionals with a master's degree in related areas and will place special emphasis on the challenges facing Chile and Latin America, promoting original research with academic and public impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With limited spots, full-time commitment, and personalized training, the doctorate will offer its students early integration into national and international academic networks, favoring their development in research, teaching, and public engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program will be directed by Professor\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/centros\/centro-signos-uandes\/nosotros\/consuelo-araos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Consuelo Araos,<\/a><\/strong>PhD in Sociology and researcher at the Signos Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new doctorate will launch in March 2026, while the admission process will open in November of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Detailed program information will be available soon.
