The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences<\/a><\/strong>, which has seen a considerable increase in the participation of its academics in the national public debate, positioning itself together with the School of Medicine in first place, has also stood out for its research work, for the quality of its studies, and for its relevance in the search for solutions to the challenges facing the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This growth has been the result of a sustained process that has involved both an increase in the number of academics dedicated to research, as well as interdisciplinary work and collaboration with national and international universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Patrick Horn, dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>highlights that in the last five years there has been an increase of more than 20% in the number of academic researchers, which has allowed for the strengthening of research lines and the promotion of the development of projects of a high academic and scientific level. This increase has been reflected in the successful awarding of projects that support and finance the research initiatives of the School<\/a>. <\/strong>\"The growth has not only been in quantity, but also in quality. Thanks to the incorporation of new researchers and the collaboration with doctoral and master's students, we have been able to delve deeper into areas of great relevance for the country, such as technological, environmental, and social challenges,<\/strong>\" Horn comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the fundamental pillars of this evolution has been the exchange of experiences and knowledge with academics from prestigious national and international universities. This has allowed us to enrich the lines of research and promote collaboration in interdisciplinary projects of great impact for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collaboration between universities, industry, and government is very important <\/strong>to ensure that research is relevant and has a tangible impact on the development of society. It is essential to identify the main challenges of the environment, align research objectives with the real needs of the people, and facilitate technology transfer. It is only through this joint work that we can generate concrete solutions that truly drive social, economic and technological progress<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

For Horn, research projects must be aligned with the country's specific challenges, to ensure that the knowledge generated not only advances in scientific terms, but is also applicable to the Chilean reality, improving people's living conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
