In the framework of the awarding of the Merit Award 2024 of the Universidad Andr\u00e9s Bello, Daniel Mansuy, director of the Signos Center, was distinguished in the category of Humanities and Social Sciences, highlighting his contribution to critical analysis and public debate in Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a solid academic background, Mansuy, PhD and Master in Political Science from the University of Rennes and Master in Philosophical Foundations from the University of the Andes, has established himself as a key figure in the reflection on contemporary politics and the ethical challenges of political thought. His recent book, Salvador Allende, the Chilean Left and the Popular Unity<\/em>has been widely praised for its analytical approach, which articulates a profound vision of the legacy of the former Chilean president and its implications for today's left.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ceremony, Mansuy thanked for the distinction and referred to the challenges of his discipline, \"we can never be at the service of a party or a particular group, nor of the sirens of history. We must not obey fads or what seems to be the spirit of the times. We must observe the world, to a certain extent engage with it, but we can never be confused with its movement,\" Mansuy said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to Daniel Mansuy, the UNAB Merit Award went to Claudio Grossman as Figure of the Year for his contribution to international law and human rights; Claudio Bravo in Sports and Wellness for his legacy as goalkeeper and captain of the Chilean National Team; Juan Carlos Castilla in Science for his pioneering research in marine ecology; Santiago Meza in Art and Culture for his career as director of the Camerata UNAB; and Lily Arizt\u00eda in Education for her leadership in improving the quality of education in Chile.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
