{"id":1224,"date":"2025-02-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-04T03:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/envirra.com\/themes\/sprout2\/2020\/08\/25\/11-things-about-living-your-teachers-wouldnt-tell-you\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T18:59:11","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T21:59:11","slug":"faculty-of-economics-and-business-sciences-creates-human-development-lab-to-influence-public-policies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/investiga.uandes.cl\/en\/faculty-of-economics-and-business-sciences-creates-human-development-lab-to-influence-public-policies\/","title":{"rendered":"School of Economics and Business Administration creates Human Development Lab to influence public policies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/facultad\/ciencias-economicas-y-empresariales\/\">School of Economics and Business Administration&nbsp;<\/a><\/strong>recently created the&nbsp;<strong>Human Development Lab (HD Lab)<\/strong>, an initiative that aims to&nbsp;<strong>improve the effectiveness of training and increase development opportunities in Chile and the world, generating rigorous scientific evidence and contributing to public debate and the design of educational, labor, and social policies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\"<\/strong>The&nbsp;<strong>HD Lab<\/strong>&nbsp;project is the result of a joint reflection between academics from different faculties and authorities of&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/\">UANDES<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<strong>contribution we can make to the public debate based on the research we are generating.<\/strong>.&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/\">university<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;produces high-quality research on relevant topics for the design and development of educational, labor, and social policies, but this evidence does not always reach the hands of policy makers and relevant actors for the design of public policies. In response to this situation, we brought together academics from different faculties to contribute to the public debate,\" explains Andr\u00e9s Barrios, director of the&nbsp;<strong>HD Lab<\/strong>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The topics of study of this center are related to the&nbsp;<strong>early childhood, school education, technical and vocational education, job training, and higher education<\/strong>among others. \"We want to facilitate collaborations between the members of the laboratory and foundations, public institutions, and relevant actors, for the design of policies that contribute to expanding the development opportunities of people and incorporate an interdisciplinary vision to the scientific work of the members of the laboratory,\" says Barrios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>HD Lab<\/strong>\u00a0is made up of a multidisciplinary team of researchers and professors from different faculties of our university, including researchers from the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/facultad\/ciencias-economicas-y-empresariales\/\">School of Economics and Business Administration<\/a><\/strong>,<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/facultad\/escuela-educacion\/\">\u00a0School of Education<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uandes.cl\/facultad-ingenieria\/\"><strong>School of Engineering and Applied Sciences<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"We hope to form&nbsp;<strong>links with policy makers and representatives of civil society to transmit more directly the policy lessons emerging from our academic work.<\/strong>It is important to better understand the concerns and needs of these groups to potentially initiate collaborations that allow us to contribute from our areas of expertise to the public debate,\" says the director of the&nbsp;<strong>HD Lab.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The topics of study of this center are related to early childhood, school education, technical and vocational education, job training, and higher education, among others.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":4083,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"gallery","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1224","post","type-post","status-publish","format-gallery","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-economia","post_format-post-format-gallery"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.7 -
