The alliance, signed by the Vice Rector of Research of UANDES, Javier Enrione, and the President of AB Chile, Gonzalo Uriarte, establishes the commitment to work to promote scientific knowledge and the formulation of strategies that contribute to sustainable development.
The Universidad de los Andes (UANDES) and the Chilean Food and Beverages Trade Association (AB Chile) signed a collaboration agreement that seeks to strengthen the development of public policies aimed at promoting sustainable and accessible food systems.

The alliance, signed by the Vice Rector of Research of UANDES, Javier Enrione, and the president of AB Chile, Gonzalo Uriarte, establishes the commitment of both institutions to work together to promote scientific knowledge and the formulation of strategies that contribute to the sustainable development of the country. The Universitythrough its academic experience and its role as an institution of higher education, will provide studies and analysis in the field of sustainable food. AB Chile, meanwhile, disseminate the work of the food and beverage industry, promoting initiatives that favor environmental protection, public health and equitable socioeconomic development.
"This agreement consolidates an unprecedented academic-industrial alliance. We unite the scientific rigor of the Universidad de los Andes with the experience of the productive world of the companies that make up AB Chile. Together we will generate applied knowledge and evidence-based policy proposals. Our objective is to promote a more sustainable, healthy and accessible food chain for all. In this way we strengthen the responsible competitiveness of the sector and contribute to the well-being of the country", said Gonzalo Uriarte Herrera, president of AB Chile A.G.
In this context, both parties agreed to create an Observatory on Public Policies for Sustainable and Sustainable Food. This space will generate evidence, articulate efforts between academia and the productive sector, and propose recommendations to address global challenges such as climate change and inequality in access to adequate food.
The signing of this agreement represents a relevant step to strengthen the link between academia and industry in key issues for the future of the country and the welfare of the population.
