The teacher Ximena Farfánresearcher at the Universidad de los Andes School of Nursing and Midwiferywas recognized with the prize for the best oral communication at the XV International Conference of the Spanish Society of Palliative Care (SECPAL 2025), held on September 26 and 27 in Zaragoza, Spain.
His work, entitled "Experience and needs of family caregivers of people with advanced illness at the end of life at home: a qualitative study."was highlighted for his contribution to the knowledge and understanding of the experiences of those who accompany and care for people with advanced disease, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive support and accompaniment at this stage.

Universidad de los Andes was represented by the following academics Paula Jaman and the Ximena Farfánwho presented the research dimension of the NENA Care Manual ProjectThe initiative seeks to strengthen the competencies of family caregivers and volunteers, with the participation of Melissa Zimmermann and the María Luisa Brahmboth Uandes Nursing academics.
The recognition obtained by Prof. Farfán constitutes an important important achievement for Chilean and Latin American nursesby making visible the fundamental role of research in strengthening palliative care and human accompaniment at the end of life.
