Under the slogan "The interdisciplinary team: pillar of Palliative Care," the meeting brought together specialists from different countries to share research, experiences, and best practices in the area.

Professor Ximena Farfán, a researcher at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at UANDES,was recognized with the Best Oral Communication Award at the XV International Conference of the Spanish Society of Palliative Care (SECPAL 2025), held on September 26 and 27 in Zaragoza, Spain.

Her work, entitled "Experience and needs of family caregivers of people with advanced illness at the end of life at home: a qualitative study," was highlighted for her contribution to the knowledge and understanding of the experiences of those who accompany and care for people with advanced disease, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive support and accompaniment at this stage.

Universidad de los Andes was represented by academics Paula Jaman and Ximena Farfán, who presented the research dimension of the NENA Care Manual Project. The initiative seeks to strengthen the competencies of family caregivers and volunteers, with the participation of Melissa Zimmermann and María Luisa Brahm, both UANDES Nursing academics.

The recognition obtained by Prof. Farfán constitutes an important achievement for Chilean and Latin American nursesby highlighting the fundamental role of research in strengthening palliative care and human accompaniment at the end of life.
