With limited vacancies, exclusive dedication and personalized training, the doctorate will offer its students early insertion in national and international academic networks, favoring their development in research, teaching and public projection of knowledge.

Last Thursday, September 11, the Superior Council of the Universidad de los Andes approved the creation of the Doctorate in Political and Social Studies, an initiative of the School of Social Sciences in conjunction with the Signos Center and the participation of professors from the School of Philosophy and Humanities and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

The program seeks to train researchers capable of analyzing contemporary socio-political phenomena with theoretical rigor, methodological plurality and an interdisciplinary approach that integrates social sciences, humanities and philosophy.. It is aimed at professionals with a master's degree in related areas and will place special emphasis on the challenges facing Chile and Latin America, promoting original research with academic and public impact.

The direction of the program will be in charge of professor Consuelo Araos,D. in sociology and researcher at the Signos Center.

The new doctorate will begin its activities in March 2026, while the admission process will open in November of this year.
